What is the science behind natural eyelash growth?

To understand the benefits of our eyelash growth treatment, it's important to understand the natural cycle of eyelash growth. Eyelashes, like the hair on our scalp, undergo a growth cycle that consists of three phases:

​

   1. Anagen phase

       Where the hair follicle is actively growing

​​

   2. Catagen phase

       Where hair stops growing and becomes detached

       from the base of the follicle

​​

   3. Telogen phase

        Also known the resting phase where the hair sheds

        and the cycle starts again

The anagen phase is crucial for the development of lash length and thickness, as it determines the duration of active lash growth.

What is the anagen phase and how does it cause lashes to grow?

 

In normal lash growth the anagen phase, also known as the growth phase, typically lasts for 4-10 weeks. During this phase, lash follicles undergo rapid cell division and produce new lash strands. By targeting the anagen phase directly, our treatment optimizes lash growth, resulting in longer, thicker, and healthier lashes that don’t fall out as often.

Our eyelash growth treatment extends the time that each lash stay in the growth (anagen) phase of the hair cycle, resulting in stronger, thicker, longer and darker lashes.

On average results are:

Safe and effective prescription treatment

​

Holme Valley Skin Clinic's eyelash growth treatment is a prescription only medication, which promotes the growth of longer, thicker and darker lashes. It works by increasing the number of eyelash hairs that grow and the length of time that they grow. Application to the upper eyelids is only required once a day, in the evening and it may take at least 4 weeks to start to see the results. So don't be disheartened if your are not seeing immediate results. This is because the treatment does not increase the speed at which your lashes grow but keeps them actively growing for longer.  Full effects can take up to 16 weeks and the treatment will only increase eyelash growth while you continue to apply the medication.  If you stop using the treatment your eyelashes will return to their original appearance.
